The Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Their role is to make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care.

Our Inspection Report

It’s a good report – it recognises lots of excellent patient care and good practice, shows that we’re heading the right way and are already making improvements, and acknowledges that we’re clear about what needs to get better in our hospital and what we need to improve.

How did the CQC rate us?

The overall rating for the whole hospital is “Good".  You can see the full rating on the CQC’s website:

CQC – Certificate of Registration

The Royal has met strict new guidelines to improve the safety and care of patients across the country.

The Trust received its registration from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) without conditions after the independent body introduced tough new regulatory standards.

All hospitals are required to be registered with the CQC by law in order to provide patient care and its full legal power came into force at the beginning of April.

The CQC is the independent regulator of all health and adult social care in England and will bring together the regulation of health, mental health and adult social care under one body for the first time.
