Your Hospital Needs You!
If you live in the Bolsover area and interested in getting involved in the work carried out at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital, there may be an opportunity for you.
The Royal is holding an election for two people to represent Bolsover on the Trust's Council of Governors, alongside a seat in the Southern Derbyshire and West Nottinghamshire constituency. Public Governors are elected by the Trust's membership and hold the Board to account, getting involved in hospital life by conducted ward visits, attending various committeess and having a voice on capital project boards.
The election process is already in full swing, with eligible members having received their nomination packs. Anyone interested in putting themselves forward will have until Wednesday 12 June to get nominations in with voting opening on 27 June; poll closes on the 22 June and the results will be announced the next day. Nominations can also be made online at https://nom.ukevote.uk/chesterfield
Our Council of Governors come from a range of backgrounds, some with practical NHS experience and some without, representing their own communities. They help to bring a fresh perspective to life at the Royal in a practical and involved way for the benefit of the Trust's patients and visitors.
Nicola Smith is the Trust's Governor and Membership Officer, she said; 'It's a great opportunity for someone with an interest in the hospital to get involved. We've got a 'Meet the Governors' event on Thursday 6 June in the main entrance of the hospital where you can talk to our Governors to find out more about what's involved, they'll be there between 1 and 3pm.
'It's a terrific opportunity for somebody to come and make a real difference to this hospital and represent the interests of you own community, family and friends.'
