Nursing Cadetship Programme

The Nursing Cadetship Programmes are open to Post 16 students who are studying a relevant course and

would meet the criteria to apply to university or apply for a healthcare post. 

 

Although subject to possible alteration, the programme below outlines a typical work experience schedule with some of the interactive activities and sessions which are delivered as part of this programme, including two shadowing days on the ward.

The application process for the March and May 2024 programmes will open in September 2023.

Paediatric Nursing Opportunity

A great opportunity to join the team for 4 days in Children's Outpatients to see face to face what a career in Child Nursing could involve, interact with patients and their families and support your University application.

Placement Outline may include:

· Communication with children and their families

· Observing the taking of observations being performed and recorded

· Observing venepuncture and the need for distraction

· Working with the multi-agency team by observing clinicians in clinics

NHS Cadets

NHS Cadets is a new scheme created in partnership with the NHS providing opportunities to explore roles in healthcare. It is aimed at young people who are from communities currently under-represented within the NHS and St John Ambulance.

The programme offers young people courses to develop their leadership and communication skills, health awareness sessions, and insight into volunteering in the NHS.

The initiative is seeking young people who might not have previously considered a career in healthcare.

The Derbyshire NHS Cadets programme is now open for applications, details of which may be found on the poster below.
