Simulated Patient Project

'Simulated Patients' are volunteers who "act" as patients so that student doctors, nurses and other health care professionals can develop their skills in supervised conditions. Using simulated patients is an excellent way of teaching students to communicate with, and understand the concerns of patients. If you think you would like to get involved in this project, please contact the Voluntary Services Team on 01246 516557 for a chat and further information.

Young Volunteers Initiative 2018 - 2020

Supported by funding from the Pears Foundation, Big Lottery Fund, #iwill, Dept for Culture, Media and Sport and our own hospital Charity, we have launched our new Young Volunteers Project, aiming to actively encourage young people 16 - 24 to be part of our hospital. If you think you may be interested, please contact:

Our 'Young Volunteers Project Coordinator', Helen Kirkwood on:

01246 516348 or email: crhft.volunteer@nhs.net

Our volunteers support staff and patients and offer a helping hand or listening ear to make a patient’s hospital stay, or visit, as comfortable and as problem free as possible. We’re continuing to build our volunteer service and are looking for a team of people who are willing to give their time to help our dedicated workforce deliver the best possible quality care for our patients. There are currently 130 volunteers - aged from 16 years to no upper age limit - helping out in the Trust.

We’d like people to offer their time to, meet and greet patients in the busy Outpatient Suites, sit and chat with patients, offer refreshments, give support to staff who deal with patients living with Dementia, to support our very busy help desk and patient escorts, help out with fundraising and much more. We’re speaking with all departments and areas of the hospital to find out what opportunities are available and what we might be able to offer anybody interested in getting involved.

Perhaps you’ve been here for treatment and want to give something back, maybe you’ve always wanted to be involved with the hospital but not been sure how or perhaps you’ve got some time on your hands and want to do something worthwhile.

If you are interested in joining our team of volunteers, please click one of the following links to go to our new web based homepage where you can fill in an application form.

If you are 25 and over, please click here

You are not committing to anything yet by letting us know that you are interested, it’s just so that our voluntary services team can find out a bit more about you and where you might be able to help and they will contact you directly to discuss your involvement further.
