2026 Industry Days

Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust supported  Industry Days for a number of schools from Chesterfield, focused on careers in clinical roles within an acute hospital setting. The events formed part of the Trust’s wider commitment to early careers engagement, raising awareness of NHS roles, and supporting young people to make informed decisions about future education and career pathways.

The Industry Days aimed to:

  • Increase students’ understanding of clinical roles within an acute hospital;
  • Provide realistic insight into NHS careers through staff‑led talks and activities;
  • Encourage interest in healthcare careers and future study routes.

The programmes included:

  • A welcome and introductory presentation;
  • Interactive talks and a range of workshops delivered by clinical staff, including Nursing, Imaging/Radiography, Theatres, Occupational Therapy, Audiology,  Resuscitation, Maxillofacial Laboratory and Blood Services;
  • A hospital tour to support contextual understanding of roles and environments.

The format was designed to be engaging, interactive and age‑appropriate, with opportunities for students to ask questions and hear directly from NHS professionals.

An evaluation form was completed by students following each event. This gathered:

Self‑rated understanding of clinical roles before and after the Industry Day;
Feedback on whether the event supported their career thinking and aspirations;
Ratings of enjoyment and usefulness for each talk and activity;
Free‑text comments on what students found most interesting and any gaps in content.
