T Level in Health 2024
The Trust welcomed our first T Level Health students from Chesterfield College in June 2024 for their induction. The students will be returning in September for supervised practice placements on our wards.
Comments from the induction evaluations were very positive and students enjoyed seeing a variety of basic nursing practices including taking observations, talking to and helping patients, assisting with meals, taking BMI, using the hoist, handover, drugs round.
A valuable part of the experience was developing soft skills such as communication and understanding how the Multi Disciplinary Team worked together.

T Level in Health 2023
In September 2023 the Trust welcomed our first T Level in Health student from Buxton & Leek College.
Charlie completed her placement hours in May 2024.
During her placement, Charlie has enjoyed a number of hands on experiences including observing patients and staff during drugs rounds, dressing changes, cannulation, pre-op care for patients and basic nursing care and techniques.
"My chosen career pathway is Nursing. I really enjoy it and know that its what I want to. The Cadetship has helped me to decide that I would like to specialise in Surgical Nursing.
Before my placement I was a bit worried about not knowing much and not having any experience before. Now that I have completed my work experience placement as part of the T-Level in Health I feel more comfortable and confident knowing what I want to do.
The staff at Chesterfield Royal have been very friendly, supportive and always accommodating and let me observe everything on the ward. I would especially like to thank Faye, Darci, Kaylee and Wendy for making me feel comfortable and more confident every time I worked with them.
My next steps include University to study Nursing.
My advice for students who are given this opportunity in the future is that its not as scary as it seems 😊"
