Chesterfield Royal Hospital believes one of our biggest asset is our people and by having a proactive approach to health and wellbeing it supports the delivery of the hospital’s strategic priorities - looking after all our people in order to continue to provide exceptional patient care.

The Trust and Chesterfield Royal Charity invests in a range of support for colleagues - providing a comprehensive health and wellbeing offer. This is supported significantly by the work we do alongside our Joined Up Care Derbyshire (JUCD) colleagues.

We have a wide range of opportunities available through the quarterly JUCD timetable - covering everything from mind and body, to physical activity, to arts and culture, to information workshops. There’s something for everyone.

Our Employee Assistance Programme is provided through Health Assured. Health Assured provides a free, confidential support and guidance service, supporting colleagues with personal and/or professional related problems that may affect their overall health and wellbeing. This includes counselling, financial support, bereavement support and more.

A range of Staff Networks provide colleagues with supportive opportunities for them to come together. This includes: DAWN (Disability and Wellbeing Network), our Veterans Network, our Race Equality and Cultural Inclusion Network, our Carers Network and the Be Yourself Group.

We also have a fantastic array of colleagues who support the wellbeing offer - whether this be as a Health and Wellbeing Champion or Mental Health First Aider - bringing colleagues together to take part in an activity and advocate and promote the wellbeing offer to their colleagues.

The Chesterfield Royal Charity are so passionate about supporting health and wellbeing that they have opened a £2m 'Wellbeing Hub' to support colleagues. This is a multipurpose space that houses workshops, counselling services, a range of classes, a gym, spaces to decompress and unwind, and changing facilities.

The Wellbeing Hub was opened by the Mayor of Chesterfield on 5 July 2023.
