The Vascular Surgical Team has excellent radiology and medical physics support. Consultant Radiologists provide a variety of interventional procedures, including balloon angioplasty and intravascular stenting.
Diabetic patients with foot ulcers are jointly cared for by the Vascular Surgery Team and the Consultant Diabetic Physicians.
A wide range of elective surgical procedures is available for patients with arterial disease affecting the upper or lower limbs. Elective surgery for abdominal aortic disease, including aneurysm, is provided on-site. Thoracoscopic sympathectomy is also available.
Varicose vein surgery is well established, with all patients undergoing pre-operative Duplex scanning to minimise the risk of recurrence.
The Trust participates in a multicentre vascular on-call rota to ensure that all emergency vascular admissions have prompt access to a specialist consultant vascular surgical opinion, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
