Whether you can give a little time occasionally or want to get more involved, charity volunteers play an important role in supporting fundraising, helping at events, welcoming visitors and spreading the word about projects that go beyond core NHS care.
To make it easy to find out more, the charity is hosting a friendly drop-in recruitment session:
- Chesterfield College – Board Room
- Tuesday, 9 June
- From 10am
People can come along, meet the team, ask questions, and sign up on the day.
Volunteering with the charity offers the chance to build confidence and skills, meet new people, and be part of the wider #TeamCRH community - while supporting the extras that can make a big difference to patients and families.
Jayne Stringfellow, Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Charity Committee, said: “Our Trust volunteers make an incredible contribution every day, and we’re now proud to be introducing more dedicated charity volunteers to build on that support.
“These volunteers will help us go even further - bringing warmth, energy and community spirit to our fundraising and events, and supporting the projects that make a real difference for patients and families.
“If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, this is a great opportunity to be part of something new and help shape how our charity supports care here at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.”
Emma Costello, Volunteer Co-ordinator, added: “Volunteering has been such a positive experience. You feel part of something bigger, you meet lovely people, and you know the support you’re giving helps fund things that really matter for patients and families. So grateful to our volunteers and this is especially exciting as we’re also in national Volunteers’ Week.”
The charity’s much-loved duck mascot, Webster, will also be helping to champion the recruitment drive - a familiar face for fundraising activity and a reminder of the positive impact local support can have.
Webster quacked: “We’re just ducky about the difference our charity makes - and we’re incredibly proud of every kind-hearted human who gives their time to help.
“Our volunteers really help us spread our wings, bringing joy and support to patients and families in ways that go beyond the everyday.
“If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, now’s the time to take the plunge - waddle along to our drop-in session and join the flock. I’d be quackers not to invite you!”
Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to attend the drop-in session at Chesterfield College on Tuesday, 9 June from 10am, or sign up using the QR code on the charity’s volunteer materials.
There will be tea and coffee on arrival, a short presentation at 10.30am and short introductory chats/interviews to sign volunteers up between 11am-1pm.
