Exceptional Care by Exceptional People: Our National Cancer Patient Experience Survey Results

We’re proud to celebrate the outstanding patient feedback received in the 2024 National Cancer Patient Experience Survey (NCPES), which highlights our continued commitment to delivering compassionate care to our patients.

The latest results show that patients receiving cancer treatment at Chesterfield Royal Hospital consistently rated their experiences positively across many key areas, including:

  • Communication with healthcare professionals
  • Involvement in decisions about their care
  • Emotional support.

Sheree Hall, Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse said: “These achievements reflect the dedication of our multidisciplinary teams who go above and beyond to ensure every patient feels heard, respected, and supported throughout their cancer journey.

“Since receiving previous results, we’ve worked hard to improve on areas which mean the most to our patients based on their feedback – one area being information on financial help and benefits available; and this year we were delighted to see this score increase from 67% in 2021 to 82% this year!

“We’re all here to provide the best possible experience for our patients – and their loved ones – and to see positive results in the survey means that we are making a huge difference towards improvement and ensuring our patients receive the best care possible in our hospital.”

A snapshot of results can be found in the accompanying graphic, which will also be displayed on the waiting areas screens in our NGS Macmillan Centre. You can read the full report via: Latest local results - National Cancer Patient Experience Survey
